On Sunday evening on February 3rd 2019 at 11:30 PM, The Centereach Fire Department was activated for Structure Fire on Holbrook Rd. With reports from Suffolk Police stating smoke visible, Chief of Department: Max Mayzus (5-5-30) confirmed and activated for a Working Structure Fire. Engine 5-5-12 was first due stretching an attack into the structure and establishing a positive water supply off a nearby hydrant. Ladder 5-5-5 was second due and went to work as the Search Team and Truck Company. Engine 5-5-2 & Engine 5-5-9 assisted Engine 12 with another hoseline. Heavy Rescue 5-5-4 went to work as the second search team & truck company and Ambulance 5-5-18 Transported 1 Patient with possible smoke inhalation to the nearest hospital. The fire was quickly located, extinguished and deemed under control. All Centereach Units were back in service in just under two hours. Mutual aid was made to the Selden Fire Department for a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) and Ronkonkoma Fire Department for an Engine to the scene. Chief Mayzus was the Officer in Charge (OIC) and was assisted by 2nd Assistant Chief: Joe Feola (5-5-32).
